A. Society Constitution
1. The society will be known as Jäger Golf Society (JGS).
2. The Committee shall consist of President, Vice-President, General Secretary, Handicaps and Fixtures Secretary and Captain.
3. The default length of service for all committee members will be infinite, bar the Captains Position. The top 3 ‘most attended’ members at the end of the year will be put forward for the following years Captain Position. An election will take place, and only members with the minimum attendance may vote with one vote per member. (President has the casting vote).
4. An end of year ‘Drink Up’ will be arranged after the last golfing event in May. The venue and date will be decided by the committee majority and communicated to all members.
5. Any member of the society can apply for a NEW position on the Committee.
6. The Committee has the power to introduce new emergency rules in the best interests of the society without the need for a vote.
7. The roles of committee members will be thus:

Managing and communicating order of play, purchase of prizes, opening speeches, updating of social media sites
To stand in for Captain when absent and undertake all the Captain’s roles. Find sponsorship
Tracking attendance, updating handicaps and calculating handicap changes at the end of each event and updating the societies spreadsheet (when not moving house)

B. Membership and New Players
Final say on venue(s) for JGS events, arranging fixtures, final say on member handicaps.
Choice of skill prize holes and prizes at Captains Day, Wear the Captain’s badge with pride, be lavish, closing speeches and prize awards on event days.
1. All new players must be introduced by an existing member of JGS.
2. A player must play 2 times as a guest at a JGS even before they can be invited by the committee to join as a member.
3. Membership will be free for year May ’16 – May ’17.
3. Membership will be £40 a year after the 1st year (May’16 – May ’17). Additional payments/bets are at the committee’s discretion.
C. Payments
1. If a player has not paid by the payment date indicated on the calling notice for an event, then they are deemed not to be playing and a place will not be allocated to them for the event.
2. If a player commits to an event and pays, but is then a no-show or drops out last minute, you will be liable to pay the full amount owed as it is not guaranteed that late changes can be made with the playing club.
- Membership payments must be paid 1 month in advance of the start of the membership year.
- Bets/wagers must be paid on the day of play; fines will be dealt with by the committee.
- A minimum of 5 x £1 coins must be brought to each official JGS event
- Only £1 coins can be used and/or transacted with bets. £2 coins and notes can be considered but with the final say
of the committee or the other party/parties in the betting ring.
7. Any payment disputes can be dealt with by any member of the committee.

D. Handicaps and Results
1. The maximum allowable handicap is 28.
2. Handicaps will be adjusted based on the results from any qualifying events, JGS events and individual games deemed worthy. Any non JGS event will be discussed by the committee before scores/points are used towards JGS handicaps.
3. All players that finish a non JGS event with a score within the top 3 scores are eligible to receive handicap adjustments. This will be at the committee’s discretion.
4. Players must declare their club handicap to the JGS at the start of a season. Their season starting handicap will be the lower of their club or society handicaps.
5. Handicaps will be adjusted as discussed openly in the JGS Whatsapp group.
6. Any new potential member must provide their 3 latest score cards, if foul play is suspected new members can be dealt with publically with the committee having the final say.
7. A player must play 6 JGS official events to qualify for the end of year prizes, the top 5 scores will count towards the average taken.
8. Being CUT – At the committee’s discretion – event day cutting procedure
1st place: Cut 0.5 per 1 point over your handicap and 2 shots for winning.
2nd place: Cut 0.5 per 1 point over your handicap and 1 shot for coming 2
3rd place: Cut 0.5 per 1 point over your handicap Everyone else: Cuts at committees discretion
E. Prizes and Trophies
1. The holes for the skill prizes will be selected by the committee prior to the event, except for the Captain’s Day when the only Captain will select the holes.
2. Only the winner and worst players will receive prizes. A prize for each of the 3 skill holes will be awarded. If the same person wins multiple times, they will receive all prizes applicable.
3. The end of year winner will be the person with the highest average score based on the general secretary updates on the spreadsheet.
3.1. A member must attend 6 / 12 times in a year period to qualify, the best 5 results will be used to create average

F. General
1. Only courses which members of the society have knowledge of will be considered for future society events.
2. The minimum number of people in a group at events should be 8 persons.
3. Any objections or complaints about the event in which you partake should be raised with a member of the committee before or on the day of the event. The committee will then investigate and collectively decide on what action, if any, needs to be taken.
5. The society disciplinary procedure is as below. Strike 1 – Verbal formal warning
Strike 2 – Written formal warning
Strike 3 – Thrown out
The committee reserves the right to enter disciplinary action at any stage depending on the seriousness of the breach of the rules. The rules the society abides by are in accordance with the rules of golf.
6. A two (2) shot penalty and £2 (2 x £1 coin) fine will be applied to any defending champion who forgets to return the trophy to the appropriate event.
7. Membership rules can be discussed/changed at any time with approval of all committee members.
